PulStar® Computerized Spinal Assessments and Multiple Impulse Therapy
PulStar® is a computerized device and software program that allows the doctor to scan the full spine for areas of resistance, indicating where a chiropractic adjustment is needed.
She uses this information to determine where spinal treatments are required. The PulStar® can also be used to gently mobilize spinal joints, without spine rotation and “popping” sounds.
This tool is especially important when regular chiropractic adjustments cannot be performed—for example, in cases of bone loss (osteoporosis), ligament laxity in the neck joints, or when medications affect bone integrity and strength.
It is also a great option for individuals who want to maintain good spinal health but prefer not to be adjusted manually or dislike the popping sound that can occur with chiropractic adjustments.
The PulStar® probe displays a visual graph of spinal resistance, offering valuable objective data that complements motion palpation during the hands-on examination.
My Toronto Chiropractic Clinic Services & Treatments
Our doctors use a variety of safe treatment to increase lost segmental spinal motion. They use both manual diversified techniques (that involve numerous highly skilled spinal and joint maneuvers) and a hand-held instrument called the PulStar®.
Our doctors offer individualized 1:1 attention, seeing only one patient at a time. We provide patient-centered care, working with you according to your needs, likes and abilities and offers treatments and advice based on your specific diagnosis, needs and preferences.
The doctor will examine your spine and joints to detect joints that have lost their normal motions and positions. We seek to find the source of your pain and to help you identify the factors that are overwhelming your body’s ability to heal itself.
Manipulation & Mobilization
One of the skills that Chiropractors are most known for is palpating the spine and peripheral joints to detect areas of lost motion.
Chiropractic adjustments (spinal manipulation) restores proper joint movement, alignment, and function.
Spinal manipulations are a form of manual therapy performed with the hands.
Spinal manipulation is a legally controlled act and requires a high degree of professional skill, knowledge and experience to be performed accurately and safely.
By definition, spinal manipulation is the act of “moving a joint beyond the usual physiological range of motion using a fast, low amplitude thrust”. As a result of the volume inside the joint increasing and the pressure decreasing, a harmless “pop” is heard as mainly carbon dioxide is released from inside the joint. The joint capsule and ligaments are thought to stretch and pain signals are reduced as motion is restored.
This type of therapy is not appropriate for everyone, but is helpful for the vast majority of people.
Spinal joint mobilization introduces pressure on a spinal bone, but does not move the bone past it’s physiological barrier. Mobilization does not produce a “pop” sound.
